* Baby ginger isn't sick anymore, and a bit more important, he knows how to give kisses! So cute!

* [livejournal.com profile] minisinoo has started posting the sequel of Finding Himself, Dulce et decorum est.

* This morning I read a Veronica/Logan fic which plot starts in a flashback scene from 2x01: 'what if Keith wasn't home when Veronica/Logan broke up and he went all ballistic'. I really enjoyed it. You can find part 1 here and part 2 here.

* Lux Radio Theatre is my last obsession. I didn't know a lot about it but the fact that I got some of their programs from ebay featuring some of my favorite people (Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Ronald Colman, Laurence Olivier and Leslie Howard) made me go squeeeee. For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about, Lux Radio Theatre were radio programs adapting Broadway plays and movies to special one hour broadcasts. They tried to usually have the same actors from the movies to the radio programs so for example, I got The Prisoner of Zenda with Ronald Colman and Douglas Fairbanks Jr.. However there were times they couldn't like in the case of My favorite wife where instead of Cary Grant and Irene Dunne, the radio play is with Laurence Olivier and Rosalind Russell (you won't see me complaining about the change although I love Cary Grant.

You can find more about the Lux Radio Theatre at Wikipedia. And HERE there is a complete log of the programs. This morning I've just bought a compilation from ebay with more than 600 of those programs. I can't wait to get my hands on them *squee*, especially to listen to the two versions of Rebecca included (one with Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, the other with Ronald Colman and Ida Lupino), or four from the five other plays Douglas Fairbanks Jr did, to mention a couple.

* [livejournal.com profile] the_grynne always brings the best info about upcoming movies and she made my day this morning with her post about Wanted. I'm already in for a movie with Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie and especially James McAvoy (all looking pretty in an action movie), but when you put them together being part of a secret society of assassins and you make a great trailer like THIS one, what can I say, I'm incredibly angry that the movie gets released here on April 4th!!! Yes! That late!!! *pouts* I can't wait that long. Btw, the official site is here.

* I started watching Long Way Down, Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman's adventure from Scotland to South Africa and I really love it! (but I wouldn't make that trip like ever, looks a bit dangerous to me)

This is a bunch of icons I haven't posted before although they've been made for a while already. Some of them were submissions for icon challenges in some communities and now that those challenges have ended, I finally can post them.

So, some teasers:

the other icons under here )

Yesterday I finally managed to go to my post office and pick up all I had waiting for me there, included some old magazines I won on Ebay.

Theatre Arts (from December 1957) included the complete play of The Sleeping Prince, which is the play The Prince and the Showgirl is based in. Apart from the text, there are some great pics of some productions of this play )

Plays and Players (from August 1957) reports how the Oliviers starring in Titus Andronicus is going in tour for Europe, including some pics as well )

but the most amazing thing is that Vivien Leigh is featured as 'Personality of the Month' for her defence of St. James' Theatre that was going to be demolished. She even brought the situation to the House of Lords. Thinking that some of you may like to read it (especially you, [livejournal.com profile] themurcurytree), here is the scanned piece )

Somebody really should stop me! I'm in an unhealthy/too satisfying online shopping spree, mainly Amazon marketplaces and Ebay (as I'm buying a lot I have to go for the cheapest :S) Last month it was about getting Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. stuff and this months is all Larry Olivier's.

I spent 32 dollars + shipping charges to get the LIFE magazine with Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh on the cover :S but I just couldn't let it go. I also bought one from 1972 with an article about Larry... This one I'm a bit worried about because of my experiences buying magazines at Ebay -I should learn the lesson but I don't- (last time it was a couple of magazines featuring Jane Eyre 2006 on the cover, and actually that was the only thing worth it! the articles inside were kind of meh!)

That also reminds me that I keep thinking that I preferred when Toby Stephens was a bit more 'obscure British actor'. Don't get me wrong, I love that he is getting the recognition he deserves and all but it has happened to me before that i get tired of hearing/reading too much about that actor (David Tennant anyone??) and I don't that to happen with my beloved Toby because I've loved him and his work since I saw Photographing Fairies and all those old works of him... *sigh*

Anyway, I think I mentioned that I was reading 'A Hell of A War' by Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.. This book is in fact the second part of his autobiography but I received it before the first part (The Salad Days), so I started reading it in bad order, yes I use to do that when I'm impatient, and I really was!

The book tells his life during WWII when he served in the Navy and I really am enjoying every bit of it. The first part of the book is a brief recollection of moments that I'm sure I'll find with more detail in the first book but that DFJ decided to included in the second book in case somebody decided to read just that one (clever boy my DFJ).

The fangirl in me squees to no end when I find things like the fact that DFJ was close friend with other actors I love like Laurence Olivier or David Niven, and even Cary Grant. For example he comments how happy he was when David Niven landed a small role in The Prisoner of Zenda, or how Cary Grant and one of his wives, were the ones renting DFJ's house when he moved with his family to his wife's ranch in Virginia. How cool is that! I'd love to read all those details... it's like a window that I would have loved to have to their lives watching how they enjoyed each other companies... They were all beautiful, powerful and talented... and they were friends and spent timt together and all... I love that, I really do.

one of my favorite parts is this funny story about Doug Jr, Larry O. and other two in a yacht... )
