because again, I saw it raw and I must confess that I got a bit less out of the conversations... but OMG! is this drama chilling or what?

Disjointed thoughts below (sorry about that)... some spoilers maybe but not really that much...

Yoshimoto is such a sinister character... You can even say he is evil, but you can't be sure because when he is all smiles or when he explains things as they are the most usual thing to say, you are prone to believe him... Those comparing Yoshimoto and Naruse may be right...

Anyway, I must confess that what it's taking me the hardest is watching how the younger kid suffers because of Yoshimoto's plottings... That passive-aggressiveness is plain cruel... which makes me even more worried about the little kid... Because we don't know why Yoshimoto keeps applying a policy of carrot and stick (found this saying trying to find the English version to one we got in Spain and that goes perfectly in this case) with him all the time. It is hard to admit that the birthday party thing has some ulterior teaching apart from making him realize that he can't trust his classmates once again and that he is alone! And if there was no teaching behind and just plain use of such a date to get his parents to confront each other... As I say: cruel!

The worst part of that is that at the end he is all 'I'm your buddy' but the roughness in Yoshimoto's treatment of the kid is just scary (kudos to Sho for his great job again!) Doesn't also look like he wants to get the kid on his side, whatever that means? *confused*

And, of course, at this point we don't know what Yoshimoto's whole plan is... we don't know if there is one to begin with... We don't know if he is just some crazy guy with a pathological need to destroy families (while he offers himself to save them) because that is what happened to him or something. Because we do know or can guess that he had some awful events in his past but still too mysterious... It's good, though... the pacing of this drama is really really good!!

I can't leave out of this post his dealings with Shinichi... It's a bit of a mastermind games, isn't it? Shinichi cleverness against Yoshimoto's savvy-ness... I wonder what big trap Yoshimoto has in mind for the older kid... Again, scary! I got the impression that the lady saying she was the Yoshimoto brothers' mom is not that and was hired by Yoshimoto... Is that even his real name? I wonder...

The beginning of the episode is so creepy! Sho singing that song and driving (at night!) the kid somewhere... I wouldn't have got in that car, seriously!

And the video for the birthday kid with the pieces of phone conversation included... Okay it made the mother to just leave out all she had inside but afterwards... Don't they wonder about the video itself? Wouldn't they assumed it was their oldest son's doings? Don't they wonder who is responsible of that? I know it's a drama, but I keep thinking about it (I know it a Japanese drama not a US/UK show... :P my bad)

And the very last part? the webside Shinichi finds? I wonder if it's a real thing, which is again, really scary, or if it's part of Yoshimoto's plan to ruin/teach the kid...

If it's the first option... the 'watashi no kazoku wa Yoshimoto Koya ni korosareta' (my family was killed by Yoshimoto...' doesn't give you a shiver down your spine? :S

Maybe I am the only one because I tend to make weird connections but doesn't Yoshimoto look to you like a quite derailed Mary Poppins? :S

PS I am disappointed with the ratings... I am trying to stop myself being bothered by the fact... >.

I think I am not spoiling too much pointing out one of my favourite moments where I think Sho-kun looks the best in the whole thing and surprisingly is after having a nightmare (won't say more, promise! sorry!)

O_O too hot and flawless! (and let me tell you, the range of facial expressions of him in this drama is amazing! some of them may go almost unnoticeable... so focus!

Btw, I keep wondering of the rest of the boys watched the drama and if so, what they may have thought while watching or what they would have done during and after watching it. [livejournal.com profile] cypros and I were talking on the phone and we both agreed that probably if they were free all of them would be watching...

Having in mind how Ohno admitted that he cried watching Letters from Iwo Jima; how emo Aiba gets with those things; how touched Nino may feel although he loves to put that 'how cool I am' façade, and Jun, who still admires Sho-kun too much, probably got terribly impressed with Sho's work (remember his face while Sho-kun played the piano...) I am guessing all may have got a bit emo...

I wonder if Jun called him or sent him a message (when I say Jun is because I am sakumoto biased, but I wonder about all of them)... And if so, is anybody up to write some tiny scene about them! Apart from that will Sho mention it in his Otonoha around the 15th (I can't believe I miss that entries soooo much!)

I think I can picture Jun crying watching Sho coming back from war and also in his lowest moments during the drama... saying aloud to the tv screen 'Sho-kun you really are something' kind of thing lol! I am so silly!

Open for a while.

For all Sho-kun has invested on this, all the effort, all the promotion, seriously it's worth it... because everybody should watch this! He is a great Kageyama and in comedy he is really good, but allow me to say that he simply is amazing here!!! I thought that being aired so close to Nazodi some people may have a problem changing from that character to this one, but not at all, there is no need of transition because the moment Blackboard started he wasn't Sho-kun or Kageyama or any body else, he became Shirahama sensei. I was speechless with the start and throughout it I kept being in awe of his work.

I cried, I worried, I got heartbroken... It's a fantastic drama, really touching telling a story of a man in a delicate/difficult moment in the story of Japan. I read, I think it was in the Cut interview (translated by lovely [livejournal.com profile] shojunniji), that he was interested because it was WWII and he liked it when he was a student and also war issues really matter to him... So this had all he had dreamt of and it gave him the chance (for being who he is) to reach viewers that maybe starring some other actor it wouldn't have been possible.

He is hurting so much during most of it trying to deal with his past for which he feels guilty (or seems so) and trying to see where he fits in the future...

Will just say this: there are a lot of scenes where you just want to hold him and tell him that everything will be okay. The moment with his mom (you'll know when you watch it) I was crying buckets!

There is this huge speech towards the end that I really wish I could get more of it... It's quite long and touching just for the way he delivers it but I didn't get too much. I had tears in my eyes anyway. And when he writes 'mirai' in the blackboard *cries* and what he says after that!! So beautiful!

I wrote in a previous post how he gave a book about Mindanao to the director of the drama and now I know why. It is supposed he lost his arm in that battle (I am currently reading about it at Wikipedia since although I love WWII, being in Europe we tend to focus in our front and the Pacific is a bit unknown to us).

I am not posting pics so I don't spoil too much. Just found funny that he even got the chance to speak English (the longest I've heard him!)

But please give this a chance, even if you don't like historic dramas or you think this is too serious for you, it is not! He is amazing! I won't get tired of saying so!

Well I am not making it justice anyway, but give it a try!

stuff removed and posted in a later post... sorry! (edited on April 7th)

I haven't decided my vote yet, which is strange, really, because last night I had it pretty clear, or at least the one I hated I had it pretty clear -it was number 4- but for some strange reason I am getting fond of it lol! I know I am sick or something...

Apart from that, some parts of the outfits reminds me of things or moments and now I can't make up my mind.

It was an okayishhh drama. I mean the cast was awesome and Ohno was really good. I actually enjoyed him a lot there. The chemistry between him and Yui was great too, I think.

For me it looked like one of these movies full of plot twists that you kind of know will be coming (some of them, not all, I am not that good) and that gets most of the character link to each other in some way.

Ohno's part is kind of hugable... the guy really wants to be a superhero and when the chance comes, he really tries. Besides I think Ohno looks mighty find in this drama, so that was another reason to enjoy it.

However I do admit that it was a bit boring in some parts, actually not-Ohno parts.

Sho's and Jun's cameos were so shorts!!! I didn't get the chance cap Sho, but seeing Kageyama with one of his disguises... *cries* I missed him so much. And Jun's cameo... I laughed so much. He's always the lucky guy...

I did get a cap of Jun and some other stuff, so spoilers ahead )

Yahoo is conducting a quiz to see which dramas people will be watching this winter. Everybody can vote and yesterday I did (like 10 hours ago or something) and the results showed that Jun's drama was the second one in votes!!!

Photobucket

And Strawberry Night was the third one but for a little number of votes.

I hope it keeps being the second one, since the difference with number one, a drama starring Nakai Kiichi (funny too that he's another of Jun's co-star) about an older people romance (older like a 50s kind of couple?) is quite a bit. It seems people it's looking forward to that one the most...

I find pretty funny that Yuko Takeuchi and Jun, who were couple in Natsuniji both have detective/police/mystery dramas this season and in the same station... They should make some promotion together or something ;) I am also glad that Yuko's male costar is that hot guy from the drama with the Korean actress... I can't remember the title *ashamed*

I so wanted to edit this pic a little... Think of it as the starter...

more )

The day started being a so-so one but news about the boys and some other stuff made it better.

I read those rumours about Nino's movie... Let me take it with a grain of salt. I really wish it's true since it sounds so interesting and promising... but remember the rumour about his solo in BW being 'Erotic Night'? That makes me doubt it now that it has the s*x word in the title lol!

I've seen Lucky 7 poster and I love it!!!! (and Koyama is also in the drama?!) And I love even more than the main theme is going to be sung by Arashi... Now my question is... when will we know about the title or the released? and even more important? Will it be released at the same time or close to the BW kokuritsu concert DVD? This waiting is killing me...

All that info got it in tumblr, btw, can't remember the origin of them, but they are among the blogs I follow there.

Arashi's managers meeting:

Band manager: Well, did you do the survey as we agreed?
Managers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5: Yes.
Band manager: And?
Manager 2 (scratching his head): Nothing. No satisfactory result...
Band manager: How comes?
Manager 5: We asked all the Arashi fans we know...
Manager 1: As you say we kept it low profile...
Manager 5: and the results don't help us really...
Band manager: Elaborate please.
Manager 2 (holding a big sheet of paper with graphics on it): Well... Look at it yourself: Juntoshi fans 24, Yamapair fans 24, Sakumoto 24. It's a tie!!
Manager 3: It seems that we will only have janken pon left to decide this...
Manager 4: We are Arashi managers, we can't do that. We are professionals. There has to be another way...
Band manager (holding the bridge of her nose): Did you ask different people about this?
Managers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5: No.
Band manager: How in hell you did it?
Manager 1: We got the staff we usually work with, invite them to coffee and asked them with cameo they would prefer as you said.
Band manager (eyeing them warily): I should have done it myself.
Manager 5: What do we do then?
Band manager: Tell the guys at Fuji TV that the three have to appear in the same drama, we don't care which one.
Manager 1: Aye sir.

Fuji TV writers room:

writer 1 (pulling his hair desperately): There is no way this will look flawless!! Too many characters to fit in for a cameo! They don't know what they are asking from us!!
female writer 2 (over-excited): I got it, I got it!
writer 1 (eyeing her cautiosly): how?

female writer 2 (dreaming kind of look in her face): Imagine: Ohno san's character is walking down the street and sees a great limousine parked at the side of the road. The glass from the back seat lowers and Kageyama invites him in. Ohno san's character accepts. After a while, as the limousine has been parked there for a while, Matsujun's detective who was having a coffee break nearby gets suspicious, walks to it and knocks on the back seat glass. Ohno san and Sakurai san, lower the glass, looking dishevelled and with grins on their faces invite him in.

writer 1 (exasperated): You've been writing fics again, haven't you?
female writer 2 (blushing): maybe?

48 hours later:

writer 101: I got it!

writer 1 (almost dead): Yes?

writer 101: The main thing is that they share a scene right?

all writers nod.

writer 101: Ohno san's character is being questioned about the abduction by the detective in charge of the case. They are in the police precint and Matsujun's detective walks in and says 'How it is going?' as he walks to his desk/office, and Ohno san looks his way. Bingo! You get them in the same scene.

writer 101 (contin.): And when Ohno san leaves the police station and walks down the street he and Sakurai san's Kageyama pass each other while Kageyama is in his way to have his tea and they exchange looks.

writer 1: Fans are gonna kill us...

female writer 2: So, can we think in the sakumoto cameo in Nazodi already???

To my first Johnny ever... to the one I should blame for getting me into jdramas, jpop and JE... Omedetoo gozaimasu!! 39 hasn't ever looked so uber sexy! You looked so hot staring at Yuko Takeuchi, your chin on your hand that rested on the back of a chair... Pride was an absolute discovery for me, one that I am so glad I made... ^^
