More Adrien Brody as Manolete

I'm pretty annoyed because I haven't been able to find any Manolete trailer so far. I've watched things on TV here but nothing similar to a proper trailer or teaser yet, just images of the filming or Adrien training or so.

You know how much I want to watch this movie, not because I'm an Adrien Brody or Penelope Cruz fan but because of the story and the way Brody has managed to become Manolete, his faces, his gestures... all (apart from how much they look alike).

Anyway, I did find this video (at yourtube, of course) about the filming and the plot of the movie where you can see parts of the scene that I already love. When Manolete sees Lupe for the first time. Love, love, love Adrien there!!! (sorry the narration is in Spanish)

[Error: unknown template video]

I also found another video but the quality is worse (it's from somebody filming at the beach while they were filming the scene) and you really can't see if they are Adrien and Penelope there... but in case you want to check it out, here it is.

Ah, and in case the embed thing doesn't work, here is the link to the first video. I really recommend it! here.

a couple of things

Just got into Queer as Folk and I get something to celebrate:

Happy Birthday to Gale Harold, who's birthday is today!!

I little pic to celebrate ;) Isn't he intense!?

btw, I just post one pic because a couple of days ago, I posted a pic spam that you can see here

And...

...more Adrien Brody and 'Manolete'. [livejournal.com profile] netnessie has posted today a wonderful post with images from Vogue Spain (june issue), of Adrien training and learning the tecniques of bullfighting from two Spanish bull fighters: Cayetano Rivera Ordónez (grandson and son of bull fighters, and the only one that I think speaks English) and Espartaco (retired already, and yes, that was his 'artistic' name when he was bull fighter). The post with the pics you can see it here. The pics are really worth a look, seriously!

edited: I also changed layout... I was kind of bored and couldn't help it, so this is for now ;)

Adrien Brody is Manolete

Okay, first things first, so you know my position: I don't like bullfights at all. I think they're cruel and it hurts me watching any of them. Besides I don't know a thing about all its meaning for those out there who loves them. Sorry, I just don't understand!

However, I'm kind of interested in this movie: 'Manolete' based in the life of one of our most famous bullfighters. It's placed in Spain in the 40s and Adrien Brody plays the main part and Penelope Cruz as his love interest, Lupe Sino.

First of all, here's the link to info about Manolete in Wikipedia.

Basically the only thing that attracts me about this movie, is watching that time turn into images, because bullfighters of the 40s and 50s led lives full of glamour... and for the first time there is a movie about it. And honestly, the other thing that makes me curious about it is the great resemblance between Adrien Brody and Manolete himself.

The 40s and 50s were the times when Hemingway, Ava Gardner or Orson Welles enjoyed coming to watch the 'fiesta' at the Ventas (the most famous bullring in the world, that is here in Madrid).

Besides he was the first famous bullfighter and his life and death is kind of a legend among those interested in the issue. His love story wasn't complete, for what I've heard, and his death was very tragic for what I know...

anyway, pics -not with a lot of quality- and more info, under here )
