TV's High was a tv program by Fuji TV that for what I've read lasted a year (2000 to 2001 I think, but I'm not sure). It was a kind of experiment, a tv parody with crazy characters and curious ideas (some quite weird).

I must confess that I like it for its rareness and because it looks like Takuya Kimura and the rest of the cast enjoyed working in this project and in itself looked like a thing to have fun doing (them) and watching (the viewers).

It really is a pity I can't understand it because my knowledge of Japanese isn't that good! and they talk too fast and use vocabulary I just don't know... but part of it you just get it even without understanding a word.


The beginning is pretty funny because it starts with Takuya receiving a pizza that I'm pretty sure he didn't ask for and it comes with a present, the delivery guy tells him. It's a strange machine that the moment is installed Takuya's life in 'his house' is aired on something like a tv channel. He goes to complain to the pizza place and the only guy working there explains him that nothing can be done (I guess that by Takuya's angry face and tone of complain). While trying to convince the guy he sees in the tv (because the guy there was watching Takuya's 'channel') of the pizza place that his Italian neighbor has decided to go into his place and eat part of the pizza. He's still surprised when some gangsters come into the pizza place looking for somebody who isn't there. He manages to escape and get back to his place.

That is the first part before the opening credits... What follows are scenes of them brainstorming ideas for the show, people coming into Takuya's place and different skits with unknown people and some actors we can see in other SMAP related programs like YOU. One of my favorite parts is when Takuya and a bunch of people who are at his place are trying to write the script for a dorama and place the romantic couple in bizarre situations.

He calls back at the pizza shop to know what that machine is about (because it comes with a weighty instructions book).




I love that there are a lot of moments when he turns the camera to him (supposedly is the machine he got for free).






Quite angry he goes to the pizza shop. Love the face...


He complains at the pizza guy and points at the tv they have there which is showing his apartment and right then he sees his neighbor eating his pizza.




Love the hair!

Would I recommend it? If you are a Takuya fan... of course!!
