the post that can make one unpopular... or not

Let's say this first: I like football (or soccer, whatever you call it) and I'm (normally) interest in the World Cup but please this is going to be too much.... too much on tv and everywhere and that makes me tired of it and not want to watch the matches or care about what happens there and I really am interested (not because Spain is going to reach the final, lol! we wish!) but because one of the stadiums is in Munich and I love that city... besides some matches are going to be really interesting, more as we reach the semifinals and all...

This doesn't mean that I won't read the posts about it around here, just that I'm afraid it will be too much.

As it happens with everything: too much of something can make you sick... and this is a danger very present when we're talking about the World Cup...

Here in Spain most of men love football (it's the sport that rules the country, believe me! LOL!) and this month is going to be great for women to go shopping alone or meet with their girlfriends because a lot of guys will be glued to the tv screen... or that is what they say. mr. ginger likes football just in a normal way and I don't think he'll spend the days watching football. He may watch some but not all of them, and we do get the channel airing all the matches!

The too much of something can make you sick... reminds me that due to my own doings, probably, I'm getting a bit tired of everything Doctor Who related...

Please don't get me wrong: I like the series, and I adore Billie and David but the fact that I may have joined several comms quite prolific right now, it's making me tired of it. In fact, I haven't seen the last four episodes or so (yet). Thinking that I started liking David Tennant not because he was going to be the new Doctor, but because of Casanova... I'm kind of tired of all the doctor stuff... *sigh*.

I am not blaming anybody but myself! So nobody has reasons to get angry or mad for what I say. I repeat is my fault, since it's normal that people get excited with a series, to post everything about it (look at me and my Aamir Khan obsession now or my frequent Takuya Kimura or Cedric/Hermione posts)

It's just that makes me kind of sad to feel this way about something I should be excited about... *sigh* I guess the obssessions and moods can't be really chosen, they just come and go in their own way without you being able to do anything about it... Probably is the best, anyway...

when I write stuff like this, I wonder if this kind of posts makes sense??

I know what you mean. I have certain fads and phases that come and go. There are permanent things that I always return to like 2046, Chungking Express, certain books etc. Then there are momentary fads that vary in degrees of enthusiasm and fervour. It can get wearying to see the same sorts of posts popping up everywhere. I have two friends pages - one is my 'musings of others' that is the one LJ provides, the other is a list of comms and friends pages I want to read and so depending on my fervour for a particular fad of mine, I'll adjust my personal friends pages. More Dr Who, less Veronica Mars? More Supernatural, less something else? I've removed myself from most BSG lists already. I think it's natural that your likes change. It would be too exhausting to be 100% about everything 100% of the time :)

As to the World Cup, I don't even follow it but this year I am because it's the novelty of seeing it in a Beijing context - which is hilarious. Also, Australia's in it so when I'm far away from home, I become more patriotic. I'll probably write a lot about it on my journal but as with all things, the journal reflects whatever I'm enthusiastic about at the time and I figure that people will just skip over what they don't like or remove me if they are sick of it.

Your posts makes perfect sense to me :)
