Some icons (all British boys)
As I mentioned before I'm watching Spooks series 3. I'm in episode 4
and I have to say that episodes 2 and 3 are especially good! I was
really really impressed!!!
I'm also trying to write some Hermione/Cedric fic... so all that inspired me to make some icons (just a few): Cedric Diggory, Adam Carter, a couple I didn't finished the other day from Cambridge Spies and one I've wanted to make for a long time now: the boys of Coupling playing Reservoir Dogs ;)

Also, the CS icons are LOVELY (and you should post 'em on toby-daily too, you know?) I love the cigarette smoking. Hee!

I can't help but making Cambridge Spies icons! I don't get to have four actors I really like all together in an UK miniseries, you know!
Glad you like the icons (I posted them in toby-daily).

Now I want to watch the whole series again. Heh!
And thanks much for posting the icons! They are, as I said, lovely!

It can be that I like the Maclean I think he was and not the one that actually is shown in the miniseries... I just recall how he suffers when his father is dying and Philby is pushing him to make a choice (he obviously does have the beliefs Philby has but he doesn't have his passion). I like to think about Maclean as the guy behind the guy... he was going to be there for Philby because for him their friendship was important and it was based not just in that relationship but also in their common beliefs. In the moment the become four he is also there for the other two, especially Burgess and more toward the end. That's is why he is hurting so much when he starts feeling jealous of Philby and his wife (with good reasons later, anyway)... I'm not sure it makes sense all I'm saying.
Yes, he is the weakest in beliefs but I think he follows them because he feels their passion and because he value their friendships... just an opinion (maybe he just let's himself go for a better thing to do, but I just can't think those were his motives, that's all).

Anyway, of course, I very much love the entire series, but it's mostly Toby for me in "Cambridge Spies." ;)

I'm sure these four men were quite different in real life, of course!

*is dead*
These are amaaaaazing. I love natural colors and sharp crisp images, and these definitely fit the bill. Oh, Adam is so hot in these (Rupert is lovely in all of the icons he's in, but Adam...wow). They're all fantastic. I'm just going to stare awhile, if you don't mind. :D (btw, my copy of Cambridge Spies arrived today! Yay!)

I'm really impressed of his work in Spooks. I really love the man and I think he is very good actor, but I had second thoughts about him taking Matthew MacFadyen's place in the series. I was wrong and I'm so happy I was! Adam is a fantastic character and I think I love him more than Tom (runs to hide). He has the happy side Tom didn't have but is absolutely professional at the same time. His teasing with Ruth is really good.
I probably will talk more about the series when I finish with series 3 or when I have watched more episodes. I'm enjoying every bit of them!

This is exactly one of the things that I love best about Adam. Although I do think there are problems with his character as I mentioned below. I love that the same guy who sat with Carmen Joyce is also the same guy who jokes with Ruth. And the same guy who goes home to a wife and child.
Tom was always filled with so much angst and sometimes I thought it was even painful for him to smile! I adore Tom, so I can say this. :) His angst is partly why I love him so much.

They are simply different characters. I love Tom for his struggling to get a personal life, for the angst you mention (absolutely love the episode where he gets shot and tries to hide it from Ellie, the one where Anthony Stewart Head plays Tom's mentor, and the one where the doctor from Deep Space 9 has also a part. They are probably my favorite from series 1 and 2). I never liked the CIA woman so those moments between she and Tom for me were a big 'no, no, no!'
Adam started great in series 3. As I mention below the first 4 episodes are fantastic in my opinion. The one with Ian McDiarmid was heartbreaking and it also was the next one with Danny and the librarian... *snif* both so so sad! Let's see how the rest goes because I know Danny and Zoe have to leave and I haven't read spoilers about it so...

YAY! Can't wait to hear what you think!

I really should re-watch "Cambridge spies"!

You should rewatch it. It's always worth the time you spend watching it!!
And also watch Spooks if you can!

It's only a pity that the writers didn't do a better job.

If this was the only example of bad writing, I could be fine about it but it is not... more series suffer from that illness LOL.

I have seen quite few episodes from season 3 and not many at all from season 4, but i guess i feel that the whole style of "Spooks" changed since Tom's exit. I have re-watched season 1 recently and felt this change. I loved seasons 1 and 2 because they were dark and broody and rising questions about loyalty and limits of person's endurance and extends to which we should go to defend the "good course".
It could be just my feeling, but i tought that seasons 1 and 2 concentrated more on Spooks themselves, and seasons 3 and 4 on stories.
The thing i loved about seasons 3 and 4 was how Harry developed. He is fantastic!
