I know she already knows but
koalathebear is a great source of inspiration for posts due to hers... And here I am posting something because she made me think about something I've had in mind ages ago and finally I didn't post: Some of my beloved cancelled shows, although I've talked about the last one disappearing: Heist (they didn't give my beloved Dougray Scott a chance and finished off the series after four episodes or so)
Btw, her original post about the shows she loved and got cancelled can be found H E R E.
She names some I would have loved were kept alive for a bit longer, Dark Angel (just two seasons when things looked so interesting...*sigh*), Once a Thief (mainly because I think I've only seen bits and pieces and it's supposedly based in Chow Yun-Fat's Once a Thief that was one of my first CYF movies to watch), The Young Riders (I didn't know it was cancelled because it arrived here quite late, I loved the series, so it was also a pity).
There are others like Roswell, that although was cancelled, I'm kind of fine with it since they allowed it to finish and closed it nicely (more or less like with The West Wing).
In no particular order:
VR.5, it lasted mere 13 episodes... but I don't know if all aired or not. I got to watch it here when it was long cancelled in the US. It really was a weird series and as its plot dealt with new technologies and the conexion between telephone and computers... I understand it was hard to maintain at that time... and now it may look a bit ridiculous. Besides it dealt also with scientists and East Germany and all... The casted included Lori Singer, David McCallum, Will Patton, Michael Easton and Anthony Stewart Head. THIS was the series where I discovered ASH and later on give a try to Buffy, the Vampire Slayer (yes, I started watching BtVS because of Giles!) Lori Singer (Sydney Bloom) tries to find out what happened to her family and finds out about a strange organization that keeps a lot of secrets about her father... She stars working for them in an attempt to learn what happened to him. In the first three episodes, the man helping her was Dr. Frank Morgan, played by Will Patton (actor I also like) and from his 'death' to the last episode made she had to deal with Oliver Sampson (Anthony Stewart Head).

Doctor Morgan tries to help Sydney but also keep her out of trouble.

Once inside the Virtual Reality (VR) things and people looked with bright colors, like Sydney's eyes here.

ASH as Oliver Sampson. This is from my favorite episode ever! The many faces of Alex where an old love interest of Oliver appears when he thought she was dead. It was a very romantic episode *hearts it*

I decided to post this one in case you can see Oliver's earring in his left ear... it was way cool! ;)

In the episode I mention, Oliver is in a lot of tension and things between him and Alex and him and Sydney gets complicated... the attraction toward Sydney is starting... while he really loved Alex in the past and needs to know what happened with her.
Queen of Swords, this one was a surprise to me. I got addicted to it because a friend told me about it and I discovered later on that Peter Wingfield (Methos in The Highlander) was in some episodes as a guest star. The series lasted one season (22 eps I think). The plot isn't very original I'm afraid but I had fun watching it (and reading fics from it too). It tells the story of Tessa Alvarado a rich heiress in Spanish California. She fights injustice with her secret identity, Queen of Swords... Peter Wingfield played Doctor Helm, an ex-English official with dark secrets... Aired 2000-2001.

Pic of the questionable vcd version I got in a Chinese shop here, that btw, doesn't include all the episodes (leaving some of Peter Wingfield's out *pout*)
Boomtown, police show that lasted for a season and six episodes (probably this is what annoyed me the most! I got the first season set but how can I get hold of those 6 episodes!!). I learned about this series when season 1 had already aired in US but I got the dvd set in UK... because it sounded curious to me that a couple of actors from Band of Brothers were also together in their next work, Boomtown. They were Donnie Wahlberg and Neal McDonough. Also starred Jason Gedrick and Mykelti Williamson, and Vanessa Williams joined them in those six episodes of season 2 :S The main idea of the series wasn't very original... it reminded a bit of Third Watch but I like most of the characters here. Donnie Wahlberg's character, Joel, had a very dramatic situation at home with a wife who tried to kill herself more than once. He's tied to that failing marriage and at the end of season one, it was obvious the mutual attraction between him and Andrea, a paramedic... It aired between 2002 and 2003.
That reminds me also of another police drama Brooklyn South, although I don't really remember a lot about this one. It starred Jon Tenney, Michael DeLuise and Dylan Walsh. It aired here when was already cancelled in US... so I didn't have time to get annoyed about it. It lasted between 1997 and 1998.
Another one about police but with an original touch was a series quite unknown called The Hat Squad. It told the story of three men, of all them police officers what when they were kids where adopted by an older police officer because their parents were also cops and got killed in the line of duty. It aired between in 1992 and 1993, although here arrived a bit later. I got so hooked to it because I found Don Michael Paul, so hot!
And now the ERIC CLOSE file *g*... Until he got his part in Without a Trace, the poor boy got more shows cancelled that he could imagine when he started his career. I think he thought more than once that nobody would hire him anymore after all those series cancelled...
Chronologically, we have at least three:
Dark Skies, series without luck that started more or less at the same time than The X-Files but was placed in the 1960s in US. The main plot was about the possibility that aliens did arrive at Roswell and there were some alive among people... and an organization created by the goverment, The Majestic, hides deals with it. However, based in the fact that aliens existed the story from the 40s til now was a bit different (starting with JFK's assasination) and having RFK as one of the 'believers' as Eric's character John Loengard was. It aired between 1996 and 1997.

John and his wife Kimberly when both arrived to Washington, he to work for the goverment and she to work for Jackie Kennedy.
The main cast (later on joined by Jery Ryan)

After getting Dark Skies cancelled, Eric starred in The Magnificent Seven, probably one of my favorite shows ever!! That lasted for almost two seasons, from 1998 to 2000. The plot is pretty obvious... it was a tv-show version of the movie The Magnificent Seven. It kept some of the characters, changed things here and there and left the seven boys protecting Four Corners a town in the West. The gang leader was Chris Larabee, played by Michael Biehn, followed by a sharpshooter, Vin Tanner (Eric), and old friend, Buck Wilmington (Dale Midkiff), a conman Ezra Standish (Anthony Starke), the son of a preacher, Josiah Sanchez (Ron Perlman), JD, the kid (Andrew Kavovit) and the healer, Nathan (Rick Worthy). It had Robert Vaughn as guest star in some episodes. He played Judge Travis, the one that hires them to keep the law in the town.
I would be boring people saying how much I loved this series... so I'll just say that apart from enjoying watching it very much, I also met some great friends because of it because fans used to meet in Gatherings (first just in the US, later on also in Europe. I traveled twice to the UK to meet fellow fans and have a lot of fun!)

A very small pic of the boys. I promise I have high quality pics ;)

Eric as Vin Tanner.
And after M7, Eric landed the main role in Now and Again, Glenn Gordon Caron series about an insurance salesman (John Goodman) who gets killed in an subway accident but whose brain is implanted in a perfect engineered body (Close) in a secret project of the government. However he keeps all the memories of his previous life and that is something he has to deal with because it's supposed he can't try to keep in touch with his widow and daughter.
The series had some great episodes, mixing what was going on in the Wiseman family with cases the government need Mr. Wiseman to take part in to solve things... The season finale was very interesting but the series didn't come back for a second :( It aired in season 1999-2000.

This pic and the following ones are from 'Disco Inferno', an interesting episode. I found this cap quite cute ;) Dr. Morris tries to see if the new more acute hearing system works...

...but it doesn't work as well as they wanted.

Meanwhile, Roger, previous closest friend to Mr. Wiseman, tries to help Heather (Mr. Wiseman's daughter) to drive.
