I understand what you mean. I think (and this is just my opinion) that sometimes fandom can overwhelm the source, so sometimes it's good to step back and enjoy something for itself (or take a complete break) without the influence of fandom. Sometimes fandom can make your interest more fun and exciting, and sometimes it can go in quite the opposite direction (for example...hate memes).

In any case, it's probably the best thing for you that you are taking a break from Doctor Who!

And you're right, how boring life would be if our interests didn't evolve and change. *shudder*
